3 Anambra Judges demand removal from customary court
Awka—THREE Judges working in the Anambra State Customary Court of Appeal have demanded removal from the court to the State High Court due to lack of work in their current places of assignment. The Judges namely, Justice A.O. Ezeoke, Justice J.U. Obiora, and Justice C.E. Chukwurah have already applied to the State Judicial Service Commission, JSC, for the necessary action and the Commission has recommended their transfers to the High Court of the state. The Executive Secretary of JSC, Mr. Christian Nnabuihe said the state Chief Judge, Justice Peter Umeadi, who is the state chairman of JSC, has already been mandated by the commission to forward the recommendation to Governor Willie Obiano and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, who is the chairman of the National Judicial Council, NJC, to effect the transfer. Nnabuihe said that the commission, in its 227th regular meeting held on June 24, 2016, thoroughly considered the correspondences, relevant documents and the attachments from the three Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal demanding transfer and agreed with their request.
