Algeria coach admits Eagles will be difficult
Algeria coach Milovan Rajevac has expressed his disappointment at his side’s 1-1 draw with Cameroon in their opening group stage qualifier for the 2018 World Cup. The Fennec Foxes were held to a home draw in Blida by the Indomitable Lions last Sunday night. Hilel Soudani put the home side ahead, but the visitors responded through Benjamin Moukandjo to claim a valuable point on the road. “We played to win – all the players did their best to achieve the target,” Rajevac told the post game press conference. “We are upset with this result as we failed to beat Cameroon in the beginning of the qualifiers,” the former Ghana coach explained, before adding, “If we replayed the game again I would make some changes in the starting lineup.” The Serbian went on, “I have to watch the game again to understand the reason for our dip in form after leading.” Algeria’s next match in the 2018 qualifiers sees them travel to Nigeria in less than a month’s time. The Super Eagles top the group with three points following their 2-1 away victory over Zambia. “We will try to call-up the applicable squad for the Nigeria game, who are leading the group,” the Algeria coach said. “We will face a difficult opponent in Nigeria. “We will make use of Cameroon’s draw and work not to repeat our mistakes in the coming games,” Rajevac concluded.
