Residents of Baga returns to fishing months after liberation from Boko Haram terrorists
Few months after gallant Nigerian soldiers flushed out Boko Haram insurgents from the northeastern town of Baga, Borno State, life has returned to normal. Baga was the fishing centre in the 1960s and 1970s. "The Dogon Baga" fish market as of 2000, was located about six kilometres from the town.
A Facebook user, Sallau shared photos of some fishermen displaying their catch.
"Peace is sweet, this is Baga of Borno the home of natural fishing just few months after regaining freedom from Boko haram kudus to our gallant Army . Alhamdulillah!!!" he captioned the photos.
In April 2013, almost 200 people were killed and 2000 homes destroyed as a result of fighting between the Nigerian Army and Boko Haram insurgents. And in January 2015, the terrorists attacked the town again, seized it and the military base. Over 2000 people were massacred in the attack.
